Tulikivi upgrades all its fireplace designs to incorporate the latest combustion technology

Tulikivi Corporation has introduced the latest combustion technology to its entire range of heat-retaining soapstone fireplaces. This new combustion technology, a Tulikivi invention, is known as the whirlbox. The whirlbox is a solution that burns wood very efficiently and cleanly and has excellent fuel economy. As a result, all heat-retaining Tulikivi fireplaces now carry the CE marking.

The entire range of heat-retaining Tulikivi fireplaces – including fireplaces with baking ovens – incorporates the new whirlbox technology. The whirlbox was already a feature of the company’s top fireplace models.

The whirlbox is a Tulikivi innovation in which combustion gases and combustion air are mixed very efficiently in the combustion chamber. This improves combustion and provides excellent efficiency, and the combustion is exceptionally clean. The emissions from a whirlbox fireplace are reduced to only a fraction of even the world’s strictest emission standards. Thanks to its simple structure, the whirlbox is also a very reliable and easy to use firebox.

The incorporation of this new technology has no significant impact on the appearance of the fireplaces, the only obvious change being that the doors on the new models are light grey instead of dark grey.

The CE marking now fitted to the entire Tulikivi range of fireplaces represents a message from the product manufacturer or authorised dealer to customers and to the authorities that the product meets the essential safety requirements of the relevant EU directives. The Tulikivi product range has been tested in accordance with the new EN 15250 test standard for slow heat release appliances.

"Within the industry, Tulikivi is a leader in utilising green technology. The introduction of the whirlbox and the CE marking in the entire Tulikivi range is a clear example of this. We are already designing for tomorrow – at full speed," says Juha Sivonen, Tulikivi’s Sales Director.
